Gregory Alves is a finance lecturer for the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin. His undergraduate courses include Portfolio Analysis and Management, and Investment Management; his graduate-level classes include “Investment Theory and Practice,” and “Portfolio Management & Security Analysis.” He also teaches a course on special topics in investments that examines asset allocation, portfolio optimization, style identification, and performance measurement.

Alves is also a director with Globalmax Capital Advisors, where he manages the investment model, capital, compliance, clients, trading, and performance and measurement. Before coming to Austin, Alves was the managing director of Genesis Capital Management and a quantitative portfolio analyst with Hutchinson Richardson, both in San Francisco. He also taught investment management and financial reporting to MBA students at the University of San Francisco.

Alves holds an MBA with an emphasis in finance and a B.S. in finance, both from the University of San Francisco. He is a member of the CFA Society of Austin.
