Knowledge To Go Webinar: If you can see her, you can be her. Women in Entrepreneurship

The Kendra Scott Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership Institute (KS WELI) at The University of Texas at Austin (UT) enhances the value of women in entrepreneurship by strengthening the next generation of courageous and creative women leaders who will change the world in business - and beyond. The core values of the KS WELI are to empower, build community, and equip students through creativity and innovation. Through these core values, the KS WELI encourages gender-aware approaches to redefine leadership and entrepreneurship to represent better what a founder looks like. We believe “if you can see her, you can be her.”

This talk will showcase the incredibly successful and impactful FoundHER Program - which has intentionally created a diverse, inclusive, and welcoming community at UT that inspires students to pursue entrepreneurship through curricular and co-curricular efforts sponsored through KS WELI - and across the UT campus. To date, FoundHER has equipped 68+ FoundHERs and 46 ventures with over $65,000 in seed grants. Ultimately, the goal of the KS WELI - and intentionally facilitated through the FoundHER Program - is to increase the number of women-owned and women-led businesses.

Lesley Robinson empowers students - especially women - to find the best path to their own destination. Robinson’s higher education experiences, nonprofit management, and corporate partnerships have supported early-stage entrepreneurs to be innovative and impact-focused. She has worked with the Chanel Foundation’s “PowHER in Tech” project and INCO Global’s Academy training program to support recruiting, retaining, and providing equitable access for women in the tech sector.

Currently, Lesley is the Founding Director for KS WELI, and teaches the Entrepreneurial LeadHERship course focused on guiding student leaders on a journey during which they will discover their personal values, strengths, and authentic leadership style through a gender-informed perspective. She is pursuing a Ph.D. in Higher Education Leadership from Colorado State University, where her dissertation work is focused on gender-aware approaches to teaching entrepreneurship education. She is the proud mother of a dinosaur-loving 5-year-old girl.
