Take a Look at the First-Year Experience
When you attend the Leadership Kickoff at the beginning of the semester, you’ll meet and make memories with the students in your class. You’ll also get to know your upperclassmen peer mentors who will support you along the way in your first year.
Getting Started
The freshman experience begins with Leadership Kickoff, your official introduction into Canfield BHP, where you are assigned to a peer mentor group. BA 101H, a course to help you plan, implement and evaluate your post-graduation goals, rounds out your first-year experience.
Leadership Kickoff
Every freshman will attend the Kickoff retreat at the beginning of the school year, where they will get to know each other and upperclassmen in the program. The retreat is held in the Texas Hill Country and features fun, team-building activities. It is a program put on for the students by the students to ensure these new students have a great experience and get to know their peers well.
Peer Mentors
Canfield BHP juniors and seniors serve as Peer Mentors to incoming freshmen. Every freshman will be a part of a small group, usually 10 students, who are assigned a peer mentor. Mentors work with their group during Leadership Kickoff and BA 101H. They are there to help their mentees through their first year in college by making them aware of resources, answering questions and being a friend!
