About the Program
A University Full of Energy
The University of Texas at Austin has fundamental ties to the energy industry and has built on that foundation to become a leading innovator across all energy sectors. Energy is our passion.
Creating a Talent Pipeline
The Undergraduate Energy Management Program (EMP) was launched in 2013 for students across all disciplines to pursue alongside a traditional degree. Our program trains a skilled and knowledgeable pipeline of talent to meet the needs of oil and gas exploration and industry production throughout the United States and the world.
As an EMP student, you will be exposed to expertise across UT’s Business, Geoscience, Engineering, and Law Schools. In addition to interdisciplinary coursework, you will have opportunities to learn in the field and network with industry professionals from both domestic and global companies.

Student Success Stories
My favorite class I took as a member of the program was Energy, Technology & Policy, which taught me the history of energy, as well as global supply and demand drivers that impact our everyday life. This class introduced me to LNG, and I ultimately landed an internship role with Cheniere Energy, the top LNG exporter in the United States.
