Advising & Registration FAQs

Application & Registration

How do I add the Entrepreneurship Minor to my degree plan?

  1. Complete the application through the Registrar’s Office Documents Submission. Follow the steps through this website.
  2. Once approved, ask your major advisor to officially attach the minor to your degree.
  3. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.

I'm a graduating senior. Can I expedite adding the Entrepreneurship Minor?

If you’re a graduating senior and have received permission to add the Entrepreneurship Minor, please email entminor@utexas.edu with your request. We’ll do our best to accommodate your situation.

When can I start taking Entrepreneurship Minor classes?

Once you’re admitted to the minor, you can begin taking classes for which you meet the prerequisites. Remember, admission to the minor doesn’t guarantee seats in the approved courses.

      Course Registration & Prerequisites

      Why can't I register for MAN 327, MAN 327E, or MAN 347P?

These courses have specific prerequisites and restrictions:

      • You must have the Entrepreneurship Minor officially attached to your degree profile.
      • MAN 327 is a prerequisite for MAN 327E.
      • If you were recently admitted, the minor might not show up on your degree plan until the following semester.
      • Please reach out to us at entminor@utexas.edu if you still need help and we’ll do our best to accommodate your request.

How can I enroll in other Entrepreneurship Minor classes?

For courses outside the Management department, you’ll need to meet the requirements set by the offering department. Contact the respective department for assistance with registration.

Can I take MAN 327, MAN 327E, or MAN 347P without having any minor declared?

While these courses are primarily for Entrepreneurship Minor students, there may be opportunities to enroll:

      • Restrictions are typically lifted during the add/drop period closer to the start of classes.
      • All undergraduate students may attempt to add these classes at that time, subject to availability.
      • We recommend having a backup plan, as these courses are in high demand.

      Course Substitutions & Transfers

Can I substitute my class for MAN 327 or MAN 327E?

MAN 327 and MAN 327E are fundamental to the Entrepreneurship Minor and feature unique curriculum developed by McCombs professors. As such, substitutions are not permitted for these courses.

How can I petition to have an entrepreneurship class that is not currently listed as approved count toward the minor?

To have an Entrepreneurship class considered for substitution into the Minor:

      • Ensure the class is recorded as an upper-division 3-hour class on your UT transcript.
      • Obtain a digital copy of the course syllabus.
      • Complete the course substitution request process in the Specialized Minor Substitution Request system here: https://utdirect.utexas.edu/apps/mccombs/bba/student/smsr/
      • Watch for requests for information from the BBA office and answer them promptly.
      • Email entminor@utexas.edu to follow up on your request.

Please allow 2-4 weeks for your requests to be processed.
