Bloomberg Getting Started Guide for Students

 

  1. Open Bloomberg from one of the designated Bloomberg terminals. The terminals are spaced out around the room and can best be identified by their brightly colored keyboards.
  2. Click on "Create a New Login" from the start page.
  3. Follow the steps, making sure you complete all the fields. A text message with your passcode will be sent to you.
  4. Complete registration and login using your new credentials. Make a note of your new username and passcode for future use.

 

Bloomberg Market Concepts Certificate

Bloomberg Market Concepts is accessible at BMC<GO> You will need to create a separate registration to access the training modules. Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC) is an 8-hour self-paced e-learning course that provides a visual introduction to the financial markets. BMC consists of 4 modules - Economics, Currencies, Fixed Income and Equities - woven together from Bloomberg data, news, analytics, and television.

FactSet

Company Analytics; Market and Economic Analytics; Real-Time Analytics; Portfolio Analytics; Quantitative Analytics; Fixed Income Analytics; Application Development.

 

Request FactSet Connect Login Credentials 

 

FactSet Connect is a web-based version of FactSet that students can run on their own computers with an internet connection. FactSet Connect offers all of the same functionality as the installed version in the Lab, except for the Excel plug-in tool.

Morningstar

Morningstar is an equity and fund research tool with proprietary analyst reports. Morningstar offers a certification program for Morningstar Direct. The program consists of 12 courses designed to help achieve a comprehensive working knowledge of using Morningstar Direct to research stocks and funds, construct and track portfolios, and create output for presentations.

 

Each course provides a tutorial guide to help the student prepare for the certification exams. Live and recorded webcasts are also available to add supplementary knowledge for each course topic.

 

Students can start the certification process by logging into Morningstar Direct and going to 'Training' found under 'Home' on the left navigational panel.

Capital IQ is an online, web-based quantitative research and financial analysis solution.
