McCombs Scholars Program

Build a Legacy of Support for Future Alumni

To be competitive in recruiting, enrolling, and graduating talented students, we must make it possible for high-performing students, regardless of family income, to attend UT.

To recruit and retain these students, we will aggressively expand our scholarship packages for high-potential students in Texas and across the nation.

As with much of The University of Texas, admission to the McCombs School of Business is competitive, highly-selective, and primarily accessed by Texas residents. Recruiting scholarships would allow Texas McCombs to compete with Ivy League schools and increase enrollment of more talented Texas-based and out-of-state undergraduate students to the university, providing well-deserved credibility across the nation for our programs.

The McCombs Scholars program was created to assist the Texas McCombs BBA office in reaching our strategic recruitment goals. The scholarship program consists of:

Forty Acres Scholarship ($850k+)

Administered by the Texas Exes Alumni Association, this scholarship provides funding for:

  • Tuition and fees,
  • Housing and food,
  • A living stipend,
  • Books,
  • Summer enrichment activities (including a service-learning experience),
  • Study abroad, and
  • Internships tailored for each individual student.

These scholarships are awarded to students who possess extraordinary intellectual qualities and the capacity to motivate and lead their peers.

McCombs Endowed President’s Level Scholarship ($300K+)

Administered by the McCombs BBA Program Office, this scholarship currently provides full tuition coverage each year for four years.

This award has historically been awarded to Canfield Business Honors and Freshman students.

McCombs Endowed Dean’s Scholarship ($125K+)

Administered by the McCombs BBA Program Office, this scholarship currently provides awards of $6,000/year for four years.

This scholarship is typically awarded to the well-deserving, excellent BBA students we seek to recruit at McCombs. We take the following factors into consideration when awarding this scholarship:

  • Likely competition,
  • Financial need,
  • First generation,
  • Four-year graduation rate, and/or
  • McCombs summer camp attendance.

Contact Will Whiting, Chief Development Officer, for more information on scholarship endowments.

Faculty Support

Help McCombs attract and retain the best and brightest in their fields.

One of the most significant near-term challenges facing Texas McCombs is the large-scale turnover of faculty who are at or nearing retirement age. We must focus on two important priorities:

  • To attract the best and brightest new faculty and, at the same time,
  • Retain our emerging faculty who will rise in prominence in their respective fields.

Faculty Excellence Funds ($100K+)

Unrestricted endowed excellence funds that could support non-tenure track faculty members. This allows us to build a varied pool of applicants for adjuncts or lecturers (with a focus on McCombs alumni).

McCombs Faculty Fellowships ($300K+)

Recruit and retain tenure-track faculty members.

Professorships ($1M)

Awarded to faculty members who have distinguished themselves as academic leaders and provide the necessary support for these promising scholars to remain at the forefront of their fields.

Distinguished University Chair ($3M)

Established to support eminent faculty, department chairs, and deans, endowed chairs are among the most impactful gifts a donor can make.

MSS benefits students through:

  • Peer mentoring,
  • Priority registration,
  • Community development,
  • Career discovery, and
  • Enrichment activities.
