Double Degree Programs - Outbound Students
Through the Texas McCombs MBA Double Degree Program, you have the unique opportunity to maximize your international education through in-depth learning, exploration, and application of business concepts in a global context. Full-Time MBA students may apply to the Double Degree program during the 1st year and go abroad during the 2nd year.
Double Degree candidates gain a competitive edge in global business by earning two advanced degrees: an MBA from The University of Texas at Austin and an MBA (or equivalent) from select partner institutions in Asia, Europe, Mexico, or South America.
Prerequisites
- Currently enrolled in the Texas Full-Time MBA Program
- Successful completion of the first MBA year (31 credit hours)
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
How to Apply
Students may apply to the Double Degree Program during their first MBA year and go abroad during the second MBA year. Application to the Double Degree Program is a two-step process:
- 1. Apply for nomination by McCombs: Online applications are available in September each year.
2. Apply to the Double Degree partner school: Students accepted for nomination will then apply directly to the partner school.
Note: A nomination by McCombs does not guarantee acceptance into the Double Degree partner school.
Degree Requirements
The average time required for completion of the Double Degree is 2.5 years. Students must complete 37 graduate business credit hours at the McCombs School of Business prior to departure for the partner school including:
- 22 credit hours of first year Texas MBA core curriculum
- 15 credit hours of approved electives courses
Students will then complete 24 to 42 credit hours at the partner university. Specific degree requirements vary at each institution.
Language Requirements
Double Degree applicants must meet the language proficiency requirements of the partner university. McCombs offers opportunities for students to improve their language proficiency through the Business Language Options.
Program Expenses
Double Degree participants pay tuition to whichever school they are attending at the time. The tuition and fees vary among the partner schools. During each semester abroad, students also register and pay for affiliated studies ($450) at UT Austin.
SYLFF Fellowship
McCombs students nominated to the Double Degree program are eligible to apply for the SYLFF Fellowship administered by the Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER). Awards of up to $10,000 are awarded annually.
