Bay Area for McCombs Alumni Reception with Cockrell School of Business

The Bay Area for McCombs board is pleased to invite alumni from the McCombs School of Business and Cockrell School of Engineering to join us in San Francisco for an evening of camaraderie and networking. The reception will take place at Hyatt Regency San Francisco from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022.

Dean Lillian Mills and Dean Roger Bonnecaze will be in attendance to share University updates from their respective schools.
This event is FREE to attend and will include hosted appetizers, beer and wine.

Homecoming Weekend

Join us for Homecoming Weekend on September 30 – October 1, 2022, for a half-day business conference with outstanding McCombs faculty members (in person or online), a centennial celebration BBQ tailgate before the home football game against West Virginia, and special receptions for five-year class reunions (classes of ’17, ’12, ’07, etc.). Reconnect with your classmates, network with fellow alumni, celebrate 100 years of McCombs, and get back into the classroom!

Texas McCombs Homecoming will feature three main events. Pick and choose or attend all three!

Alumni Business Conference

Friday, September 30

Time: 1-5 PM CT

Location: Crum Auditorium, Robert B. Rowling Hall, UT Campus

Join McCombs faculty members and industry experts in the classroom for presentations and panel discussions on hot topics in business. Alumni can attend the conference in person or watch online via livestream.



Friday, September 30 

Time: 6-7 PM CT

Location: Grand Ballroom, AT&T Hotel & Conference Center, UT Campus

This year we are especially celebrating our reunion classes! Join an evening reception with your fellow graduates to reminisce and network. There will be sections for the classes of 1977, 1982, 1987, 1992, 1997, 2002, 2007, 2012, and 2017. This is an in-person event.



Pre-Game Football Tailgate with Centennial Celebrations

Saturday, October 1

Time: 2.5 hours before kickoff

Location: Indoor and Outdoor Plaza, Robert B. Rowling Hall, UT Campus

The alumni tailgate will take place before the UT vs. West Virginia football game on Saturday, Oct. 1. This event is family-friendly and includes a BBQ buffet. The tailgate begins 2.5 hours before kickoff. This is an in-person event.

We will be securing an opportunity for all McCombs alumni to buy football tickets in our group block during Homecoming Weekend! We will post more information soon.

The deadline to pre-register is Friday, Sept. 23. Ticket refunds are available before Sept. 23 and do not include the $7.25 service fee per ticket.

Please join the Austin Chapter at their monthly breakfast. This month the breakfast will take place on a Thursday and will include alumni and MBA students. Coffee and breakfast tacos will be provided.

Join the New York for McCombs Council and Texas Real Estate Center for a networking reception and panel discussion with Wall Street for McCombs and Texas Real Estate students in town for their company treks. The students will give insight into the impact of these programs on their undergraduate experiences.

Knowledge To Go Webinar: Work Relationships and the Post-COVID Workplace


The effects of the COVID pandemic are still being felt in the way we work. Many organizations have adopted flexible work arrangements in which many employees are working from home a significant amount of the time. These arrangements influence the nature of people’s workplace relationships. In this talk, Professor Art Markman will discuss the three key types of relationships people engage in, as well as the nature of social connections, and then will explore how the current workplace environment affects and is affected by these aspects of our social world.

Art Markman is the Annabel Irion Worsham Centennial Professor of Psychology, Human Dimensions of Organizations, and Marketing, and Vice Provost for Academic Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin. He has written over 150 papers on topics including reasoning, decision making, and motivation. Art brings insights from cognitive science to a broader audience through his blogs at Psychology Today and Fast Company and his radio show/podcast Two Guys on Your Head. He is the author of several books including Smart Thinking, Smart Change, Brain Briefs, and Bring Your Brain to Work.
